It holds the GPS securely at all times, but easily releases it if you wish to walk with it to your ball, and then as easily allows you to put it back with ease! I definitely found the goose neck a plus too, as you could angle the GPS to always get the view you needed quickly and easily. A must addition if you are going to the expense of owning a sonocaddie V500.
