(More customer reviews)This Bracketron device is so ingeniously designed -- it is how I would have designed it if I could have designed it myself. I use it to hold a smartphone when driving so I can see the maps built in to the phone's navigation system. It is an excellent holder for this purpose.
--The device can be adjusted in multiple ways through hinges and swivels that can be locked into place. It only took about a minute of experimentation before I found the best position for my compact car, just about the best position for reading navigation maps.
--The smartphone holder is also very adjustable, and the flexible brackets can be adjusted to both hold the phone and allow one to plug in a phone charger and audio output cord.
--The device needs to be pushed all the way into the power outlet for the electrical connection to work. Once pushed in, you can tighten it by turning the outer ring clockwise. I had been concerned that it would bounce around too much in the car's power outlet, making the maps unreadable, but tightening the ring secured it, and the device remains steady while driving (and is steadier than the vent-mount holder I had used previously).
I almost did not purchase this device because there was only 1 other review, and it was not a good review. I did not experience any of the problems mentioned. I have not had any breakage of any of the parts, and it holds my smartphone steady so I can see the maps without any problem. You do have to follow the instructions and avoid forcing it into position without loosening the lock releases. I have not used it more than a few days, but at this point, I am very happy with this ingenious little device.
