In order to actually hold a GPS with a 4.3" inch size screen, you need to rotate the holder so that the widest part of it holds the GPS at the top and the bottom instead of the sides as it should. Otherwise, why make it so adjustable width wise? I mean, you can spread the holder really wide, but not wide enough to hold the entire GPS. This forces you to twist the holder to a vertical position, now all that adjustment is wasted, I don't think there are too many (if at all) 4.3" inches tall GPS units. Because now the holder has to go over the top and bottom edges of the GPS, the foam cushions cover the spot where my GPS senses light, making it think that it is always dark and adjusting the brightness of the screen to reflect this. I'm sure that if I play with it some more, I might be able to correct this, but nevertheless this is something you might want to consider before purchasing this holder. My main reason for purchasing this holder was because, the included holder with my TomTom GO 730, wasn't long enough to bring it within reach in the windshield of my Ford Explorer. Also the ratchet type mechanism used to attach the base to the windshield, seems sturdy enough that it will hold everything in place and not fall off.
