(More customer reviews)I got this HUD for my Camry after I almost rear-ended another car on the freeway while looking down at the speedometer. Here's my impression of it. I hope some of you find it helpful!
Appearance/Construction - The device is small, light and portable. The plastic case feels sturdy and durable.
Installation - The HUD is ready to use right out of the box. Powering up the unit is simple. It plugs into the cigarette lighter and powers on and off with the car. Just be sure to set the display to "MPH" rather the "KPH" (kilometers per hour). The anti-slip mat that comes with the device is very effective. I've been using the device for two weeks, it has never slipped off the pad.
The included display film is *very* sticky, so be careful when putting it onto your windshield. Make sure you have plenty of water on the windshield before putting the film on it, so you can slide the film to where you like before allowing it to set. This process takes some skill... I decided ultimately not to use the film, because the device projects a very clear, illuminated, digital readout directly on the glass windshield - even in daylight.
Operation - The included user's guide wasn't well-written, but the device is really easy to use. I threw my manual away. If you are one of those people who can't figure out how to use a microwave, the seller has some easy-to-understand instructions under "Product Description" on Amazon's website. When turned on, the unit takes about 30-seconds to get a satellite fix. After it started displaying my car's speed, I found that the displayed speed lagged the car's speedometer by a second or so when accelerating or braking suddenly.
Ergonomics - The sticky film (for displaying the HUD on the windshield) is tricky. Again, the digital, illuminated display looks great on the windshield without the film - even in broad daylight. The adjustable "speeding alarm" is awesome. However, the audible alarm is a little on the loud side for me, so I set the warning speed fairly high - about 10 MPH above the legal limit of 65-MPH on California freeways.
I am very happy with this neat product. I think a HUD speedometer is a much safer way to check one's speed compared to looking down at the speedometer. After my dad got two speeding tickets recently, I decided to purchase another one as a bday gift.

Drive safely by not taking your eyes off the road to look down at the speedometer. This GPS Head-Up Speed Display projects your speed right on the windshield. You may also set overspeed warning with the touch of a button. When the preset speed limit is exceeded, a visual indicator lights up and an optional alarm beeps (for up to 15 seconds) to remind you of the speed limit.
At 65 mph, looking down for one second to check the speedometer means driving blind for 95 feet. Many accidents start during the time a driver glances down and fails to see sudden traffic changes ahead. Now, drive safety by never looking down to check speed again with this Head-Up Display.
The unit also works as a GPS receiver for the navigation program on your handheld device or portable computer, through the USB cable or Bluetooth pairing.
